As a standout scholar-athlete and leader on and off the basketball court, has spent the last four years making a lasting impact at Âé¶čAV. Now, Smith is charting a promising path forward in the sports industryâone thatâs been shaped by hands-on experiences, supportive mentors, and a deep sense of purpose.
Smith's passion for athletics goes far beyond playing the game. Thanks to Bryn Mawrâs funding and support, she was able to intern with the WNBAâs Dallas Wings during the summer between her junior and senior year, gaining firsthand insight into the operational and business side of professional sports.
âThat experience confirmed for me that this is the career path I want to pursue,â says Smith. âWithout Bryn Mawrâs funding, I wouldnât have had the opportunity to take part in something that opened so many doors for my future. Iâm incredibly grateful.â
In August, Smith, who majored in sociology at Bryn Mawr, will begin a year-long role with Villanova Universityâs athletics department as the Academic Support & intern for the 2025â26 academic year. Looking ahead, Smith has been accepted into two highly regarded sport management masterâs programs at Temple University and Virginia Commonwealth University, with plans to begin graduate studies in the fall of 2026.
Earlier this year, Smith attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, where she had the chance to connect with other scholar-athletes and professionals in the industry. The experience was eye-opening and inspiring.
âWe participated in breakout workshops, heard from keynote speakers, and learned from industry professionals during panel discussions,â she says. âOne of my biggest takeaways was the idea of chasing your purpose over your passion. So many young professionals focus on job titles instead of the impact they want to make. That really stuck with me.â
Smith also emphasized the importance of embracing growth opportunities. âEvery experience matters,â she says. âUse the resources available to you, step out of your comfort zone, and take initiativeâbecause the extra effort wonât go unnoticed.â
Smith's time at Bryn Mawr has been defined by excellence, both as a captain on the basketball team and as a dedicated student pursuing her goals. Through every challenge and opportunity, sheâs stayed grounded in who she is and where she wants to go.
âThe connections Iâve made, the support Iâve received, and the lessons Iâve learned at Bryn Mawr have all shaped me into the person I am today,â she says.
